Yup. Ctrl-alt-Fx = switch to a virtual console. At that point, you can
use Alt-Fx to switch to a v.c.; if you use Alt-Fn, where n is one _higher_
than your normal number of virtual consoles, you'll get back to X.

Eg: I have set up 11 virtual consoles, on tty1 through tty11, which can
be switched to with Alt-F1 through Alt-F11. If I start X, and switch to
a virtual console with Ctrl-Alt-F1 (say), I can get back to X by using
Alt-F12.
