It's 31 Mar 96 13:13, We'll return to mike@calypso.bns.com.au and All's discussion of installing linux problem >i type setup and get an error that there's no native linux partition setup. i >then wipe my drive, create an empty partition "D" logical drive and try it mi> After you have run fdisk and created a Linux partition or two and mi> a swap partition you will need to run setup to install the system mi> on a partition. mi> If you are wiping your drive I would boot Linux without creating a D mi> drive. You can partition the disk with Linux fdisk. I think you may have hit the nail on the head here. Sounds like the original poster is creating a partition with Dos's fdisk, and when Linux attempts to install, it can't find any space to fit a native partition on. While you can create a DOS partition with Linux's fdisk command (using the t command to change the partition type), the reverse isn't true. I just installed Linux on my 386, which had a special problem due to the number of cylinders on the HDD (> 1024 and no enhanced IDE :-( ). By using Linux to create both DOS and the various Linux partitions I needed. :-) Works like a charm now. :-) ...
