It's 08 Apr 96 07:56, We'll return to mcarreck@msn.com and All's discussion of Linux - IP addressing mc> Folks, I am wishing to connect to my ISP (Microsoft) from within mc> Linux. Does anyone know if it is possible to connect to an ISP that mc> allocates IP addresses dynamically? Yes, both SLIP (with dip capturing the IP address from the server's text output) and PPP (which has its own way of passing IP addresses) will work with an ISP that allocates dynamic IP addresses. There's a lot of good books, howtos and other miscellaneous documentation floating around, both on the Net and in bookshops. It's worth chasing some up. :-) ... Close encounters does NOT mean ramming me in the ass. -- | Fidonet: Tony Langdon 3:632/367.2 | Internet: tlang@freeway.DIALix.oz.au | | Freeway Internet Gateway, Melbourne, Australia.
