Redhat, Debian Slackware

Hi all,

Anyone out there care to evaluate in a little detail the relative merits and the different origins of Redhat, Debian and Slackware ?

Additionally, I have the Infomagic CDs which contain all three issues of Linux. I have Slackware 1.3.20 running but I want to try RH or
Deb. Is the install the same as Slackware (ie copy the files and then run an installation programme and configure and compile a
kernel) ?

Hope someone has the time to rely to a semi-confused user :-)

Cheers
