I have installed RedHat 2.1 a couple of weeks ago. I've just gotten to the
stage where everything is working normally as I like it so I decide to
try out some games. I played a bit of abuse.x11 but found the 320x200 X11
window much too small. So I switch to a console and tried running it there,
what I got for my trouble was a blank screen. I CTL-C'ed it and the error
messages showed /etc/vga/libvga.config not found. I remember seeing this file
in /etc, so I made a /etc/vga and moved the files there. I tried abuse.svga
again, same familiar blank screen. Error message about MOUSE_TYPE environemnt
variable not set if not using a MicroSoft mouse. So I switch my mouse into
MicroSoft mode, checked that abuse.svga is suid root, then tried again. Got
my good old friend the blank screen, and my new friend the MOUSE_TYPE error
message. OK, I think, lets try something less stressful than abuse. So I fire
up svga_klondike, hey hey I got graphics, Do'h! the mouse doesn't move. So I
repeated all svga_ games and found that I get graphics but no mouse. Abuse
still gives me a blank screen.
Has anybody got this going? BTW, my RedHat install was a commplete, everything
with cherries on top install (and my harddisk felt it). I'm running Linux
1.3.57 and it's an all ELF system but include the a.out libs.
Cheers.
