We'll return to kevin@tplex.com.au and All's
discussion of Juke boxes (CD)

That's right. :-)

Well, since the system is still in "early development" here, I'm not
quite ready to recompile the kernal, but I do intend to eventually. :-)

Where there might be a problem is: user a and user b decide (as per
Murphy's Law!) to access files from different CD's at the same time
(quite possible, especially where shareware archive CD's are mounted for
public access).

Depending on the design, two scenarios are possible.

1. a gets in first, reads his file, then b gets the drive. This is
faster and more efficient.

2. the CD is shared between a and b, so that the drive reads a few
blocks from a's file, then reads a few from b's, then back to a, etc,
etc. This would take forever, and probably leave you in the market for
a new CD drive pretty soon! :-)

... REAL programmers write self-modifying code.
