Hiyas, Well I'd copied Linux off a friends CDROM onto one of my HDD's (there's two in this poota, a 1 gig and a 1.2 gig). So I installed Linux off one of my MSDOS partitions and as it neared the end of the installation it asks me if I would like to make a Linux bootdisk and setup LILO. So I opt to make a bootdisk and it comes up with another menu that allows me to format and then create the bootdisk. I stick a floppy into the drive, then slect format. The FDD light comes on for a sec, then disappears then I get a whole lot of crap about Unable to access device /floppy0 or something like that. Then it quit back to the prompt and I was unable to do anything whatsoever (reboot, shutdown, couldn't even run setup or anything like that again). So I rebooted and now the poota refuses to boot with that 2nd hdd that I tried to install Linux on. (That is, it gets stuck somewhere along the CMOS bootup tests I think) Anyone know what actually caused it to crash and how I might fix it? (I'd also like to know whether the HDD is actually dead now, or its something that I might be able to fix with some software?) Thanks, Yun (gumby@zip.com.au)
