There are several Motifs available for Linux in either binary (a.out and ELF) or source. I don't use any of them, so I can't recommend one. Check out http://www.cen.com/mw3/ for a good source of Motif info on the web. Or try Yahoo. I'm not sure what's happening with the GNU lesstif project (freeware motif 1.2 clone). Haven't heard anything about it for ages...but then, I haven't been terribly interested, since I've been running my linux box mostly in text mode for most of the last few years, only upgraded my system to be worth running X on about 4 or 5 months ago. Given a choice between fast text and slow graphics i'll take the fast text every time. Being able to compile Motif programs is only just starting to become important to me. I'm going to have to start keeping track of developments. > > I know Yggdrasil (spelling ?) used to offer it but I haven't seen > > any of there adds in a long time. > The other problem is getting it in the right format (aout or > ELF). Or Arena? Or Mosaic? Source code for all 3 is available. None of them require Motif (I wish lesstif would hurry up and get released!). There's also another browser written in Python, but I can't remember what it's called right now. Alternatively, you could install the a.out shared libs alongside the ELF versions...an ELF system can run a.out as well as ELF binaries with no problems.
