Thanks to those who helped with my previous question. If you can
all tolerate a few more questions, it may help to flatten out this
steep learning curve.
I do read the howto's (until 3am the last couple of days), but must
still manage to miss things. :-(
I really thought that getting my microsoft bus mouse working would
de easy. There is even a howto specifically for busmouse if very easy
steps. HA!!
So far I have ...
Read /usr/doc/faq/howto/Busmouse-HOWTO.gz
Confirmed interupt on card is at IRQ 5
as per /usr/src/linux-1.2.1/include/linux/busmouse.h
cd /usr/src/linux
make config * Microsoft busmouse support [y]
make dep * no errors
make clean * no errors
make zImage * no errors
cp zImage /vmlinuz
reboot
The last line before login the says "gpm: /dev/mouse : No such device"
So what have I tried ?
Yes, there is a /dev/@mouse --> inportbm
mknod /dev/inportbm c 10 2 * results in "file exists"
selection -2 bm
various gpm options
booting to dos and making sure the mouse is ok
It seems to me that something is missing from /dev.
Why does Midnight Commander (which I would have been totaly lost without),
show the -inportbm file length as 0 ?
Thanks once again to those who help. Unfortunately I have a long way to
go because I want to get Waffle running under Linux. That means the
serial ports, and I am almost dreading that :-(
Regards to all... Owen
