Not good advice - please point to local information, such as

Read the Info sheet and the Meta FAQ first, and the Distribution HOWTO 
before buying a CDROM.

Anyway, I'm not sure what an inherent bug is ....

You need a 386 or higher CPU; 4Mb RAM to crawl, 8Mb to jog, 16Mb to fly.
You can run from a few files in a DOS partition and a CDROM, but you 
won't want to for long. Budget on 100Mb of disk for a good system to play 
with.
