I went and bought a 16 bit SB and 6x CD rom but LINUX cannot recognise the CD. It is a ATAPI interface and works fine under dos, but Linux cannot recognise it. I am using Slackware 3.0 with kernel 1.2.18 (i think). It is the relase on the LUG/NUt CD. I have tried to install the patches for the NEC CDR-260 CD but they fail to install and also the kernel wont compile. Any help about the CD would be greatly apreciated, I am not to worried about compileing the kernel as that is only a minor problem with my setup. many Thanx John PS the cd is a Creative CD-260
