Okay!

: I used 'bare' for the install disk and have a 486DX4/100 with 12Mb RAM
: and 4 hard disks via a CMD EIDE card. (Drive config is 1.6GB, 270Mb,
: 250Mb, and 240Mb). I reboot the PC with the 'bvare' boot disk and get the
: boot: prompt to pass parameters to the kernel. Here I just press enter
: and then get 'ramdisk..' and then an error message of 'error:0x10' and
: the system then puts me back at the boot: prompt. I have tried giving
: the ramdisk (cyl, head, sect) parameter to boot with the details for my
: 1.6Gb drive but no go there ..... Any suggestions ?? All helpo appreciated!

You've got a toasted root disk. Remake the thing. Things should work.

Passing it parameters of the 1.6G drive won't help - there's nothing to see
there. (Hint: Linux wants linux filesystems.)

Cheers
