I had an interesting time with Phoenix 0.1.8 myself, but with a few gross 
hacks to the makefile, I made it out.  It has one rather nasty bug:  The 
program will freeze up (all menus inoperable, etc.) if you hit "backspace" 
on an empty document.  Other than that, it works fairly well, except for 
the fact that it's slow (likes to refresh the edit window a lot).  So for 
now I stick to editing HTML in a text editor.
