I have been trying to get emacs running without success (either with
or without X11). I have installed it several times using "setup",
(and uninstalled it with the pkgtool program, between installations).
I noticed that it is already compiled in the .tgz file.
I get the following error when I try to run it.
bash: /usr/bin/emacs: cannot execute binary file
I have the correct rights to run it, etc.
I was wondering if this is in the new ELF format?
I have read the ELF-HOWTO and got no leads from this to test the emacs
binary for ELF format.
Does anyone know of a way to verify this on an a.out system?
Perhaps I got errors when downloading the E disk set, and I'm barking
up the wrong tree?
Thanks for any suggestions. (Email or post is fine.)
