If it's some obscure no-name brand like mine, you may have troubles. Secondly, as I'm unsure of how the bootdisk is setup with the CD-Rom version of slackware, I'm winging it here, but check some of the following type "echo $PATH", or alternatively, type "set" and look at what the PATH environment variable is. type "cd /sbin" and then do an "ls -l" and look for fdisk and setup. If they're there, you're laughing... use /sbin/fdisk and /sbin/setup to run them, or add /sbin to your PATH like such :- PATH=$PATH:/sbin do the same, and look in /bin and /usr/bin - but they should have been in /sbin... As I said - I'm not sure where everything's supposed to be with the CD-Rom, but my next guess is that they're meant to be on the CD. First, check if it's mounted - like this :- type "mount" and look for something mounted on /dev/cdrom or something else that looks like your cdrom device. Note that /dev/fd.... and /dev/hd.... are floppy and hard-disks respectively.... Another point is that the filesystem on the CD is probably iso9660 which will also give it away. If mount isn't found - try "cat /etc/mtab" and look... If you can't see it mounted - and you have mount at your disposal, type something like... mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt substitute /dev/cdrom with YOUR cdrom device. If /mnt doesn't exist, just cd / mkdir mnt and try again... Now look for the files above in /mnt/sbin, etc I think I've covered most things you could check. Email me if you have any probs and tell me what the above things produced...
