How to create Multiple Filesystems ??

In order to properly boot up Linux via LILO, I'd like to have a
small partition within 1024 cylinder boundary holding all necessary files
for Linux boot-up, and maybe two or three more filesystems say /var,
/home, and /usr, etc.

I know how to create partition using fdisk under Linux, but I'd
like to know just how large the boot partition need to be. Since I am
installing Slackware Pro from cdrom, what do I need to do to make sure
all necessary files will be copied to that partition and the rest be
copied to another partition.

Can I have more than I filesystems in ONE partition ? If yes, how
do I designate different pathname to different filesystems, such as /usr
to 1st filesystem and /var to 2nd filesystem , etc. And when I install
the Slackware Pro, how can I ask INSTALL to copy files to the filesystem
that I want?
