Hi, if you have Linux 1.2.x running on one of these motherboards
with a intel 486dx4/100 please email me some lines so that I may
contact you.
Are you able to run Linux with the Turbo button on?
here are some system specs:
BIOS Microid Research 1995 v.2.10
The CMOS/BIOS setup program reports:
C TYPE 486DX4
CPU REV 0480
CPU MHZ 99.9
CHIPSET OPTI802G
BIOSID OPTI14C1
BIOS DATE 16/01/95
Now,
I'm able to boot the system with the 1.2.1 install boot/root disks
*only* if I switch the Turbo button -off- ( LED on case then shows 66)
the Bogomips I get for this are 9.5. very slow indeed!
The following is a screen output when I boot the machine
with the turbo -on- ( crashing ).
I'll type in exactly what I wrote down when I booted with 1.2.1 install
boot disk, with boot: mount root=/dev/hdb1 ro
scsi: 0 hosts
scsi: detected total
Memory 14499k/16384k available (872k Kernel code, 384k reserved, 228 data)
This honours the WP bit even when in supervisor mode. Good.

Booting with the Turbo -off- causes no problems ... I have tried all
possible combinations of BIOS/CMOS settings for enable/disable 486 cache,
read-write wait states, System speed ( which I thought was the Turbo
button bit) ...
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Rob.
