I don't know. I'm using Fedora, not Ubuntu. I don't understand why Wine 
would behave differently under Ubuntu to how it behaves under Fedora, 
but it seems that it does.

The only thing i can suggest is install virtualbox and then install 
Fedora 9 in a virtualbox virtual machine - maybe even use the live CD if 
it includes Wine (i'm not sure if it does or not) - and then install 
e-tax in that. That's a bit complicated, but probably better than 
lodging it on paper - particularly if you're expected a refund.

Or install Fedora 9 as a dual boot system with Ubuntu.
