Have you tried playing with that?

It must be a short time if you don't remember the "year 2000 scare". The European DD/MM/XXyy AND American(British) MM/DD/XXyy dates formats are NOT for calculating machines = read computers. That resulted in 104 years old lady receiving request to enroll in kindergarten and other mistakes. So the date in format YYYY/MM/DD solves it once and for all, dates can cross centuries boundaries and present themselves in sequence. How to translate it into human "language", depends on programm abilities and your expertise of configuring this programm to do it. Have fun.

The question is however this:
Chris probably wants it to display in dd/mm/yyyy format. Internal date and
external (display) date formats do NOT need to be identical.
BTW, yyyy/mm/dd is *not* US format but ISO format and is the appropriate one
for sorting data and thus for data selection, etc.
Rob.

Well this may very well be true or not that don't matter to me I live in Australia and would like to be able to use the same date format as I and every other Australian use in Quicken and many other programs

It's an impressive, fully-featured Linux accounts package. I'm sure SQL Ledger will be able to do what you want. -- http://NovemberEchoRomeoDelta.com

I'm sure KMM can do what he wants as well, at least if he could explain it a little better. KMM is a under-appreciated gem. I run my personal and business affairs using it and recording invoices + expenses with GST/VAT tracking etc. Gone are the head banging experiences I suffered using Quicken and nor is the vendor trying to fleece my pockets periodically.
