The main trap for young players is accidently ordering a Point-to-Point
( P.P. ) Onramp service, which is a 'subsciption option'. This is mostly
used for voice comms equip ( PABXs etc - catagorised as NT2 ) as the D
channel layer 2 ( and layer one, of course ) is constantly up and running
i.e. in constant communication with the network.

The trouble arises when the TE wants to negotiate its TEI ( Terminal
Endpoint Identifier ) with the network. As it's a PP service, no negotion takes
place, as it's assumed the TE is set to the only TEI the network will accept -

........and that is TEI 0 ( zero ).

Some TE can be forced to have TEI 0 ( and some will refuse to co-operate )
and will therefore work, although the BRI service is then restricted to one TE
on its S interface.

It would be a simple matter of changing the BRI to a Multipoint service, to
cure the problem, rather than delving into the workings of the TE.

A Multipoint Onramp service will accept any TE TEI request between
0 - 63. Alternatively, the TE can request the network to assign a TEI for it.

These 'Auto TEIs' would be in the range of 64 - 126.

Must be the NT port, I guess. The TE port is for when the Sparc LX is setup
as a NT2?

You've ordered the optional power supply for the NT1?
Doesn't your TE have its own?

Oh gawd, what are you doing?
