Hello. I have a small problem! We have an old(ish) Sun workstation at work. I'm not quite sure what particular model it is. We've lost the root password. Its been sitting on my desk now for quite a while collecting dust and I'd like to somehow fix this. I know its operational because when I first started I saw it working. Its just a matter of obtaining root access. Our development section upstairs managed to rumage around and find Solaris on CD which when booted caused some sort of kernel panic... Is Solaris a tad bit of overkill? It has SunOS 5.xx on it at the moment. Is the operating system copyrighted? I imagine it is? I also therefore imagine that trying to obtain a boot disk would be unlawful if not from Sun Microsystems? All I need is a boot disk so I can boot the thing and reset the root password! I'm pretty proficient with Linux. Does anyone have any suggestions? Reply to email please. rainbow@zipper.zip.com.au - Thanks. :) -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |\/\/\/| Douglas Garstang AKA Automan B.Bus(Comp) _--_|\ | | 6 Bellinger Road Ruse Campbelltown NSW 2560 / \ (o)(o) | rainbow@zip.com.au Mobile# 017 815 606 \_.--._/<-- Here! |c ) doug.garstang@telecom.telememo.au v \-- | ------------------------------------------------------------- \ | I'm so hip I can't see over my own pelvis! -------------------------------------------------------------------
