There are even SCSI RAM disks around (not the ones from Quantum), which
can be used as a swap device on a machine with a fast SCSI interface, or
on a VME machine using a seperate SCSI card just for that device. These
things use a 68020 to simulate a SCSI device with up to around 512 meg of
SIMM's!

Only problem is that they are expensive, but on a machine such as a Sparc
10 or 20, it's a very justifiable expense.

Back to the issue of SCSI removable media, what other removable devices
have people used with their Sun's? I'm considering sourcing either a SCSI
DAT drive, or using one of the common removable disk products, so that I
can have an alternative to using 1/4" inch tapes for backup. I won't be
ditching 1/4" tape though, since I now have a very nice Tandberg 525 meg
SCSI tape drive..

Speaking of which, I can source those Tandberg tape drives if anyone is
interested... I can also get a 2 GB version.

Regards,

Craig.
