Adding a Sparc IPC to my network?

Hello,

I just received the AUI adaptor for my Sparc IPC with Solaris 2.4

Now I want to add it to my thinnet Network.

I added all the hosts I have in my hosts file on my linux machine (which is
used to get onto the internet via dialup) which includes both PCs on the
network and systems on the internet.

I also added this information to /etc/networks.

Running ifconfig tells me I have no ether device, although I do.
I have an ethernet number I can see at boot time.

Also at boot, I get the following errors:

"Configuring network interfaces:ifconfig: plumb ipdptp0: no such interface
ipdptp0"

and then

"checking file systems"
(...
This is OK)

machine is a router

starting rpc services
(various daemons)

"Setting default interface for multicast: add net 224.0.0.0: gateway juno:
Network is unreachable."

The name I gave the IPC is 'juno' and the 224.0.0.0 address I cannot find to
change...
Also the machine is *not* a router?

Can someone tell me how to do all this and the location of which files to
mess up ;)?

I am not even sure if a ethernet module is in the kernel or not.

As I am quite new to all of this, and on my own as far as support goes,
could someone please simply explain the process as to how to get this machine
talking to my network?

Under Linux, the process was quite simple, but this very different!

TIA

Rachel
