I ma trying to install MusicTeX on my Linux machine so that I can print
out the scores from MIDI files (I use Rosegarden to generate the MusicTeX
file). I downloaded the package but there does not appear to be a very
clear explanation of how / where to install the files (tar zxf
musictex.tgz just extracts a large number of files into the current
directory). I am using teTeX (very nice IMO). Has anyone any info on
how/where to put which files? (I am new to TeX but want to learn it
before I do my thesis next year).

P.S. I know there is an NTeX MusicTeX package which would be trivial to
install were I using NTeX... but I'm not so I can't :-)

Thanks in advance!
