The following comes from Liam Quin's list of Metafont based fonts. >================================================================ ~Subject: International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) Used by linguists, and also in some dictionaries. It's designed to go with Computer Modern. From WSU. The csli version has been extended by Emma Pease (emma@csli.stanford.edu) to include hooked D, B and K, and probably more. ftp: ctan: tex-archive/fonts/tsipa/doc/* ftp: ctan: tex-archive/fonts/wsuipa/* ftp: cougar.csc.wsu.edu; directory: text1.wsuipa ftp: csli.stanford.edu; file: Phonetic.tar.Z There is a mailing list for linguists who use TeX: ling-tex-request@ifi.uio.no >================================================================ I don't know which of these is best, or if this is exhaustive. If I do recall correctly the tsipa may be the latest of these, and so most up to date. I vaguely recall a posting in comp.text.tex that compared the various options. Someone will probably have more, and better information. But if not I would suggest you look through a CTAN ftp server or mirror and check the directories with IPA in the name. There may be more information there, otherwise just try the various packages on offer. The two main CTAN ftp servers are ftp.tex.ac.uk and ftp.dante.de, there are a number of mirrors such as ctan.unsw.edu.au in Australia. From NZ I gather a north american mirror would be a lot quicker. -- Stephen Harker s-harker@adfa.oz.au School of Physics Baloney Baffles brains: Eric Frank Russell University College UNSW, ADFA
