Latex for NT

I'm running NT 3.51 (soon to be NT 4.0) and want to start using latex
again (was using emtex for dos.)

Does anyone here have any suggestions as to what latex software I
should consider using. I'm after something which will work under NT
and I'm not really after an integrated environment because I'm quite
happy with my current editor.

So, basically, what I'm after is a command based compiler/viewer which
is native to NT as the switching to dos window and back out required
with emtex takes longer than the compilation itself.

Thanks for any help...
