That provision : applys to publicly available stuff like web sites. : I'll have to re-read that bit. You could be right on that. : : > Ok - but what if I am on a mailing list that swaps erotic fiction? : : You can actually make a case that that was illegal before : the most recent legislation in some circumstances. illegal under what grounds? And if so, why so. if I write thehnn snail mail letters to a group of peopling ona mail list will this also be censored? I guess it comes down to whether sending mail to someone (or a group) is publishing. : > Is it really any of the governments business? Why : > shouldn't I be able to swap fiction with like minded persons? : : You clearly cant if its child porn for example. Even if : you just swap stuff that you didnt produce yourself. Do you mean child porn images (which required violation of someones rights) or ficticious works? if I write a story exploring teenage sexuality is that 'child porn' ? (under current definitions it could eb if causing offence to a reasonable adult) What about if I write a 'rape' story, or just repost a short 'rape scene'? : No point in going into hysterics about the ABA and the most recent classification : legislation any time soon. I bet it turns out to be nothing like as bad as the wilder : claims made at the time that classification of computer games was introduced. I thnk the classification of games is bad as I still believe that there should exist a category for adult games. The onyl thing that makes the game classificaytion and banning scheme less ba dis the number of patches you can download to get the full adult version of certain games. -- ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Randyte (Heath Gibson) "The interest in encouraging freedom of expression in a democratic society outweighs any theoretical but unproven benefit of censorship." from the majority judgement in Reno_v_ACLU, striking down the CDA. ++++++++++http://www2.hunterlink.net.au/~ddhrg/randyte.html+++++++++++++++++++
