🚀 go-pugleaf

In an attempt to reduce paper consumption, I am printing drafts of a latex
document using two columns per page, and printing across the page, rather
than down. However, I am getting numbered blank pages which I would rather
avoid. Any clues on how to get rid of them?

The offending blank pages occur between my first (and as yet only) section
and the bibliography, and a blank page right at the end of the document,
after the bibliography.

I am using the following commands at the top of my latex file:

  \documentstyle[twocolumn,twoside,fixup,amschars]{article}
  \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{10mm}
  \setlength{\topmargin}{-25mm}
  \setlength{\topskip}{0mm}
  \addtolength{\textheight}{-10mm}
  \addtolength{\textwidth}{105mm}
  \hoffset -12mm

and the following commands later, to input my first section, 1.tex
and bibliography, b.tex.

  \begin{document}
  %  \maketitle
    \include{1}
  %  \include{2}
  %  \include{3}
  \appendix
    \include{b}
  %  \include{programs}
  \end{document}

Any ideas as to what is happening or suggestions as to how to do this better
would be appreciated. The files twocolumn,twoside,fixup and amshars are all
.sty files.

One last point - the \maketitle command doesn't seem to work very well with
two columns either. Has anybody else tried this?
