Where can I get the source to a guide to Latex? (Yes, I know about the book included in the Unix TeX distribution, but dont know enough LaTeX to pull the bits that stop it from formatting). If there is a postscript document about, I can take that too. Cheers, Stephen

If you guys are talking about the TeXbook, don't bother. Printing a copy of this would be highly illegal and unethical. It is available for you to compare with a store-bought copy of the TeXbook. If you just want some information to get you started, use archie to search for: essential "Essential LaTeX" There are some other free guides available. The book is copyrighted and it is illegal to print your own copy from the source code. It is very uncool to ask how to pull the stop bits. It even says that: > ! This manual is copyrighted and should not be TeXed. > \body ...l is copyrighted and should not be TeXed} The book only costs $34, and is well worth buying. Try asking the Tex Users Group people -- they have and sell *all* things pertaining to TeX and its variants. TeX Users Group P.O. If you just want some information to get you started, use archie to
search for:
essential "Essential LaTeX"
There are some other free guides available. Look on shsu.edu or
rusinfo.rus.uni-stuttgart.de.
Here are instructions for getting essential latex:
ftp to TeX.ac.uk [134.151.40.18]
login as anonymous
cd [.MACROS.LATEX.STYLES.CONTRIB]
get hndout.sty
get elm.tex
cd [TEX-ARCHIVE.DOC]
get essential.tex
quit
latex essential
latex elm
(and print them out or preview them)
