Sorry it took so long for me to respond to both Jon and John, but
duties call and I wanted to give others a chance to jump into
the discussion anyway.

Jl> I think that you can expect more. To my knowledge, there has

SJG bust was one of the most ignorant raids and not the best of
examples. Many of us are no doubt being monitored and the letter
of the law is often transgressed on many if not all local BBSs.
I am not a business. I have a personal bbs set up to serve artists
and others that very often do not give a hairy fig for rules & regs.
My choices seem to be keep it up and risk castration or jackoff in
private. So far I am staying the course and exposing myself
publically. <only semi sarcastic>

JL> One other note: I'm not sure that EFF-Austin has done as good
JL> job as it might of communicating about goals, plans,
JL> accomplishments, etc. in this newsgroup. I expect that
JL> you'll see more from directors here ongoing, and I hope that
JL> more of you will participate in the dialog.

JSQ> What else do you think we should be doing? I can think of lots
JSQ> of things, and we're getting to as many of them as we can, modulo
JSQ> existing volunteer burnout. But you probably have ideas we haven't
JSQ> thought of. What do you want? What do you need?

Thank you both for responding to my thots. I would still like to hear
from the rest of the BOD and BOA more often within this news group. If
service in the machinery of the organization keeps y'all away from this
important voice to the local BBS communitity, then you have given me
another reason to avoid volunteering beyond my means.

I have some/many friends and acquaintances within the directors of
EFF Austin and I hope my comments about the organization as a whole
aren't taken personally. I can only afford to attend a select number
of the f2f meetings and would like to see this newsgroup as more than
a place for announcements and forwarded news. It's my main contact point!

Do you really want to make this a grass roots democarcy? Really in the
full sense of the term? I would vote my heart out at the first election!

----

As far as changes in the national org, Rita and Mike G. were the people
that I had the most use or contact with, now they are gone. I will miss them!
