Avid Abandons Mac - My Advice

Hi there,

I have worked on the Mac/Avid for years. After deliberating and researching
all the features and issues surrounding making a choice for a broadcast
quality NLE, including things like company attitude towards customers, I am
very happy to say I now own the new Discreet Logic EDIT* system.

I am still editing on a MC 8000 the whole way through summer on a CBS show,
but cannot believe how much faster the Discreet system is. To cap that, it
is also less than half the price and the highest resolution is 470KB/frame,
way better than AVR77 which tops out at 300KB/frame.

Avid have a very poor track record for taking care of customers as well as
making you pay for every little extra you want. If you are thinking of
making the move to Windows NT, I wholeheartedly recommend supporting someone
who will support you. My system of choice is Discreet Logic EDIT*.

Peace and Blessings
Mark T Palmos.
