SHOTGUN SATURDAY NIGHT REPORT
Match 1: Light Heavyweight Match
Brian Christopher VS Aguila

This match was clearly for the top contender in the light heavy weight
division. The match started of with Aguila hitting a moonsault then
outside the ring he hit a corkscrew plancha. Then he hit an assai
moonsault. Christopher took control using backbreakers and neckbreakers.
Then hit that move where he sunset flips him, then powerbombs him to the
floor. Aguila hit the armdrag from the top rope then he hit the 450
splash. Aguila hit the hurricanrana and turned it into a pinning
combination.
Winner: Aguila by pinfall

Match 2: "Marvelous" Marc Mero VS Bradshaw

This match was all Bradshaw, clearly over powering Mero. Mero had the
odd punch or kick but Bradshaw was always on the winning side. Bradshaw
hit the powerbomb, then he hit the big boot to the face. Bradshaw hit
the fallaway slam and then he hit the pump handle slam. Goldust made his
way to the ring and threw Mero on the stairs. So, Bradshaw took
advantage and hit that awesome lariat.
Winner: Bradshaw by pinfall

Review of Mike Tyson joining D-X

Match 3: T.A.F.K.A Goldust VS Flash Funk

Goldust (dressed like the tin-man from the Wizard of Oz!!) took control
early on. Goldust hit an uppercut and then the clothesline over the top
rope. Funk hit the splash and then that cool spinning heel kick. Mero
came down and low-blowed Goldust, so Flash hit the DDT and got the 1,2,3
Winner: Flash Funk by pinfall

Match 4: Faarooq and Rock VS Tom Brandi and T.Rantula

This match was the Nation all the way. Brandi took control for a while
using arm drags and back breakers. T.Rantula came in (personally I think
he is a bunch of crap) and more or less lost the match for his team. The
Rock hit the "people's elbow" ( that's what D-Lo said) and then the DDT.
Faarooq came in and distracted the ref and Rock hit the "Rock bottom"
(another one D-Lo said) to get the 1,2,3
Winner(s):Faarooq and Rock by pinfall

This week's Shotgun was not at it's best with only FOUR matches!! I will
give it a 5 out of 10.

WRESTLING NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
***NWA-SW RESULTS***
(as sent to us by Kikikita)
Hello again everyone. I thought I would go ahead and type up some more
NWA-SW results for your reading pleasure. I didn't take detailed
results, so all that I am typing is coming from memory.

NWA-SW's second show at Palenque Dallas was held on 3/6/98. I would
estimate the crowd around 800 or so. It was up a lot from last week, as
I think last week the crowd was around 200. Some of the increased crowd
can be attributed to Mil Mascaras' Texas return, but it looked to me as
the Latino community was in the minority in attendence.

The ring announcer came out and did a skit before the show started.
YAWN!

Jimmy James defeated Krusher Kong
--This was a good opening match. Both guys worked hard, and the people
like the big man/little man type of spots. The end came when Jimmy
James was coming back on Kong, Kong's manager, Lance Romance got up on
the apron. James pulled Romance into the ring and had him in the corner
ready to punch him. Kong charged James, but James moved, and Kong
splashed his manager. Jimmy James then rolled Kong up for the 1-2-3, and
a good pop from the crowd.

Khris Germany defeated Mandingo
--Khris entered first, and he was accompanied by his manager (and NWA-SW
booker), the now bald "Female Fantasy" Brandon Baxter, and Canyon.
Canyon is on crutches and sporting a leg brace this week. Baxter talks
about being part of Team Extreme, and gets the crowd riled up. Mandingo
enters second and goes and shakes hands with the fans. Germany gets the
win with a new variation of the DDT. After the match Baxter moved the
ringside table away from the ring. Germany and Canyon put Mandingo on
the table, and Germany came off of the apron with a leg drop through the
table. Mandingo laid on the floor in pain while Team Extreme
celebrated. Security came to help Mandingo up, but he refused and
walked out on his own.

Ced Man defeated Nico Suave
--Suave, who resembled Shawn Michaels, came to the ring with a beautiful
lady, who left once the match got started. The end came when Ced Man
hit a slingshot suplex for the win.

Mil Mascaras defeated El Brujo (Kit Carson)
--Before the match El Brujo took off his mask revealing himself to be
Kit Carson. Mascaras put Carson in just about every mat wrestling hold
imaginable. Mascaras got the win after a crossbody. After the match
Team Extreme came out. From what I gathered Kit was a part of Team
Extreme. Germany scolded Kit for his loss to Mascaras. He asked Kit if
he needed the money that bad, refering to Kit coming out in a mask
billed as El Brujo. Baxter got in Kit's face, and ended up shoving Kit.
Kit had enough and shoved Baxter to the mat, to a pop from the fans.
Germany and Kit went face to face, and eventually Team Extreme left the
ring, with Kit standing alone. The crowd really got into this little
angle.

Action Jackson & Luminous no contest Rod Price & Rodney Begnaud
--This match started out wild from the very beginning. Again this week
the match went all over the building, and it saw the crowd on their
feet. Finally the match ended up back in the ring. Krusher Kong and
Lance Romance ran in and attacked Jackson and Luminous. Kong splashed
Jackson while the two Rod's took care of Luminous. Finally Ced Man and
Jimmy James ran in with two big pieces of wood to make the save. Price,
Begnaud, and Kong headed back to the dressing room as Luminous
challenged them to come back to the ring. Price, Begnaud, and Kong came
back toward the ringside area and Jackson went on to challenge Kong's
"fat a#s" to a match next week. He then challenged all three to come
into the ring. A wild brawl ensued to end the show.

Commentary --
This show was a huge improvement from last week. The crowd was about 4
times what it was for the first show, and they reacted well to the
matches. I would venture to guess that this was the largest paid crowd
to see a non WWF event in Dallas in at least 8 years, if not longer. I
plan on going back next week. The only matches that I know of for sure
are:

Action Jackson vs Krusher Kong
Kit Carson vs Khris Germany

Gambit's Ramblings
"Michaels Screams Respect"

Nine years ago, I would have taken one look at a scrawny wrestler named
Shawn Michaels and had a good, long laugh if you told me that this was
the future of the WWF. As part of the Midnight Rockers with a weirdo
named Marty Jannety, this guy with bright, neon threads was good off the
rope and really quick but that was about it. Then they hit the Vince's
World as just "The Rockers" and I still could care less. He was too
small and and too much of a pretty boy to be anything in this place of
big, mean men that liked to snarl at little girl scouts on the way to
the ring. Shawn Michaels, in my opinion back then, was a girly man and
I really enjoyed laughing at him even though I was eleven.

Oh how opinions change. I stopped laughing and started to
cheer the very moment Shawn chucked Marty Jannety threw a glass window.
That was the real beginning of the modern WWf and I was quite content.
>From that point on, he did things the way he wanted and won titles and
fame and the rest is history.

But titles and fame aren't what got my hard earned respect from Shawn.
His athletic ability and intellect earned him that. SHAWN MICHAELS MAY
BE THE BEST ATHELETE TO EVER ENTER THE RING. There, I said it. Now,
before you start to pick up the moniter and throw it out the window in a
temper tantrum, hear me out. Then, after listening to my points, if you
feel the need to write me a strongly worded letter, go right ahead. (I
think you will agree though.) My reasons Michael Hickenbottom should be
praised:

1) His size--At 18 years old, he was 6'1" and weighed a whopping 190.
SCRAWNY. Now he is 6'1" and 238. Ok, not huge at all but a little
better. He is still minute compared to other "heavyweights" and this
set him back a long way. His toughness prevailed and he continued to
win though. Againest monsters such as Kevin Nash, Sid, Undertaker,
Vador and others, he used his quickness, intellect, and resiliancy to
outlast these creatures on his way to victory.

2) His attitude--He gains his smile, he loses it. He loves the fans,
he hates them. He is angry, then the next minute he is happy. It is
easy to see that he changes emotions quickly but the one constant is
cockiness and an attitude of supremecy over ANYONE, be it giants or
luchadores. Attitude makes a great wrestler such as Austin, Flair,
and Hart and no one knows this better than Mr. Hickenbottom.

3) His moves--Quick, surprising, exciting moves are terrific to watch.

4) His heart--Shawn took a beating in Syracuse and came back. He won
rumbles on drive alone. He came back after forfeiting title after
title. Tragedy continues to strike but he keeps bouncing back.

5) His mic skills--Funny, charasmatic, and flambouyant traits make him
Shawn and help sell tickets. Sure he can wrestle but so can Benoit, but
if you look at the mic skills, it is clear why one has many belts and
one is fighting a girly voiced Flock leader in WCW.

6) His intellect and knowledge of the sport--If no other reason, you
should pick this one. When the greatest to ever hit the ring was
about to leave the WWF to head back to WCW, it was Shawn that went to
him and begged Vince to let him have a match with this wrestling god.
Although Vince was reluctant, he allowed the match in a house show
with no cameras rolling. The outcome was as expected with the legend
wiping the floor with the young Michaels and laughing all the way.
But it was Michaels who picked up EXTREMELY VALUABLE knowledge and
tricks of the trade in this confrontation and earned the respect of
the best ever. It is little things like this that got him where he is
today. Oh yeah, the legend that taught a few things to him was none
other than RIC FLAIR.

Shawn Michaels gives it his all. He works hard and delivers really
exciting matches each and every time he wrestles. I wish him luck at
Wrestlemania (if he wrestles) and you can tell him that it was Gambit to
tell it like it is.
-Gambit

Wrestling From One fans' Opinion:

This week I am writing about a certain wrestler and I would like a lot
of response from all our readers. The wrestler that I am writing about
is none other than the Ultimate Warrior, and wethear he should or
shouldn't make a return to the squared circle. It is well known that the
WWF and the Warrior sued each other over the rights of the Warrior name
and gimmick, with the Warrior winning. Now with the case settled, in my
opinion it is only a matter of time before he reenters the sport. I know
he has legally changed his name to the Ultimate Warrior, but please
don't send comments that you think the guy has lost it, this is just
simply a fan opinion poll and to see what the fans thinks about his
possible return.

What I would like is for you to vote if you want his return and if you
do, which federation should he return to, either the WWF or WCW. I will
post the results in my next article. For me, yes I would like his return
because I grew up on the eighties wrestlers and he was one of my
favorites and he always get the crowds into his matches. Until next
time, comments are always welcome---Cindy, Pegesis55@aol.com

BELIEVE ME WHEN I TELL YA

DAZED & CONFUSED

Well as i reported a few days back but wasn't given the credit...

Last night WCW vs WWF in the UK finally kicked off. WCW now gives us the
whole show of Nitro on a Friday night from 9pm, and Nitro & RIW are now
in direct competion for 1 1/2 hours.

So after busting my ass of at college and work all day i got home around
9:15pm and ran straight upstairs to get my first real feel of the WCW,
the video was already set, and recording, and also set for the 1am
repeat of RAW so i didn't miss any WWF action.

Anyway either because i was completly knackered or still feeling the
effectings of throwing up at 2am in the morning i FELL ASLEEP at around
10pm, or perhaps the reason is because the WCW can be so BORING at
times. The play by play men are the worst, they go on for what seems
forever about mindless crap about what happened, and what will happen,
Hogan does his usual half an hour interview (which used to take up
literally the whole of the hour highlights show we used to get). Don't
get me wrong i like WCW but i'll always favour the WWF.

WCW has A lot of talent, the problem is none of them have any decent
angles, they just seem to get thrown in matches that mean nothing every
week on Nitro, and now that Thunder has arrived, you'd think WCW would
do something about it.

Anyway i woke up this morning and instead of watching WCW where i fell
asleep i decided to watch RAW.

Easily the best RAW for a few weeks, Tyson joining DX, Sable finally
getting her hands on Luna (I need to get one of those Luna skirts for my
girlfriend, anyone know where you get them?) Austin totally selling the
Sweet Chin Music and actually making it look good, the return of the
Undertaker, A great action packed show, seemed like the fastest two
hours of my life.

Well i've got no UK news for you this week, although if i did it would
properly get stole and put on other newsletters (cough TRE cough)
hopefully next week i'll try an focus on a certain situation, as
everything that i had in mind ended up being done by one of the other
500 columists of this newsletter, which brings me to these comments.

How SAD, PATHETIC, and IMMATURE can you people be? Thumbs Up/Thumbs
Down, Two Fingers Up, Middle Digit Up, Who cares who did it first? i
don't. but as long as the Diceman continues his great job, i don't care,
The Diceman is easily the best writer on the newsletter.

Then there are Gambit and JuggleBoy, obviously two boring people that
live boring lifes, my proof, there is an article from these two EVERY
DAY! give it a rest, if like the diceman you wrote ONE well put together
article a WEEK, you might get some respect instead of thinking up of any
old crap that don't mean anything, creating top 10 lists when you can't
even think of 10 wrestlers for the list. you say you needed a laugh when
really your you couldn't think of 10 wrestlers for the list.

If you can't think of anything to write, Then don't write anything. if
you can't put together a well structered, slightly intresting article,
then don't. if you want to be immature then go and write for one of
those pathetic newsletters owned by 12 yr olds on AOL, where they might
just find you FUNNY.

You might think the same about me, but one thing i know of, is that i
have only had ONE piece of hatemail from this newsletter and plenty of
praise, and considering i aim my article at European's and not Americans
that's not bad going.

I don't intend to get into this argument, i will not raise the issue
again, but please grow up because you are spoiling a good newsletter by
being so childish.

Q & A WITH BIG OREN
Q: What ever happened to Todd Pettingill that hosted the Saturday/Sunday
a.m. shows for WWF?

A:He was released/fired/quit/his contract expires-but bottom line is
that he left the WWF.

READERS' COMMENTS
from mailto:GSRaven@aol.com
I have some information regarding the Kevin Sullivan question in this
issue. It is true he has retired and is working as a booker for WCW, but
he has not retired completely as he wrestled an Indepentant show in his
homestate of Massachusetts just a few weeks ago

from mailto:NESTOFPAIN@aol.com
i just wanted to say that just because he's pissed DDP has Kim is no
reason for Gambit to say he needs to retire. DDP fought his way up to
where he is now. He went from promoter of people like Vinnie Vegas(Kevin
Nash) and the Diamond Studd ( Scott Hall) to being a wrestler. He
lost it all in one match just like Medusa but he was able to come back.
DDP did the dance and paid his dues, and Gambit in my humble opinion
shoulda checked up on the mans career b4 he decided that the man
shouldn't wreestle just because KIM is his wife.

but hey, everyone has their own opinions, u just shouldn't state em if
you don't want holes shot through em 8-)
