III III III E AND
RUMORS
III III III W FOR THE WEEK OF
IIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIII S APRIL 5,
1998
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~ WCW is still negotiating with Dennis Rodman to have
him appear at the Bash
at the Beach Pay-Per View this summer. Rodman was at
the Bash last year and
reportedly had a lot of fun. Rodman is hesitant to
sign an official agreement
though. Because of all the publicity Mike Tyson is
getting with the WWF,
Rodman wants to be part of the WWF. Dennis believes
that the WWF would better
suit his style.
~~ This may be a reason for many WCW stars being upset
with their current jobs
in WCW. In addition to all the egos and surplus of
talent, many stars are
upset at the number of dates they have to work this
year. Many stars that
jumped from the WWF to WCW jumped because they would be
receiving more money
and they would be working fewer dates a year. In 1998,
WCW has 300 house
shows scheduled. The WWF has about the same amount.
This is upsetting many
WCW mid-carders who have to work most of the cards.
~~ As most of you know the WCW Spring Stampede PPV is
in jeopardy. This past
week at the WCW Saturday Night Tapings, Randy Savage
injured himself. The MRI
came out saying that Savage has a torn ACL in his knee.
This is horrible
timing for Savage to get injured as most of WCW's
angles are going to revolve
around him. This injury is very similar to Marc
Mero's. Savage will require
surgery. Sting is also injured. Sting has suffered an
injured hip but it is
not a serious injury and Sting will continue to
wrestle. Save still wants to
wrestle at the PPV though. Whether his doctors will
allow him to or not is a
different question. The WCW Hotline is already
reporting that Savage will not
be able to compete. They are hinting that JJ Dillon
will be choosing someone
to face Sting. The most likely choices are Ric Flair,
Lex Luger, Chris
Benoit, and Curt Hennig.
~~ This Friday, Slamboree tickets go on sale at the
Centrum Center in
Worcester, Massachusetts. On Friday from 2-4 p.m.
you'll be able to meet
and greet "Mean" Gene Okerlund, Curt Hennig, and the
Nitro Girls at the
Solomon Pond Mall. [Credit- Conrad
Thompson/Sharpshooter]
~~ Hogan's nephew, Horace, has been in the Power Plant
for several months
now and has worked a Nitro dark match since he's been
training with WCW.
He even did a few cards in Japan earlier this year.
Anyway, I hear he
was at the Orlando tapings with Raven as a part of the
Flock. So look
for him soon. [Credit- Conrad Thompson/Sharpshooter]
~~ It is no secret that Kevin Nash and Scott Hall want
to get out of WCW. X-
Pac (Sean Waltman) made that known on this past
Monday's RAW. Bischoff has
stated that he will not give either of these men their
release. Hall is
currently in rehab and Nash is currently in the
spotlight and will be teaming
with Hogan at Spring Stampede. The only way for Nash
to get his release from
WCW is to, I believe, shoot on Hogan during a match
causing Hogan to get irate
and get Bischoff to fire Nash. We all know what Hogan
wants, Hogan gets.
~~ Neither Jimmy hart nor Disco Inferno will be in "Man
on the Moon". "Man on
the Moon" is a movie about Andy Kauffman. You might
remember him from the
early 80's when he feuded with Jerry Lawler and they
had that famous
confrontation on the David Letterman show. It has been
rumored for the past
fer weeks that Jimmy Hart will be in the movie and that
Disco Inferno would be
playing the role of Jerry Lawler. This is false as
confirmed by Jerry Lawler
on an interview on the "Get in the Ring" radio show on
WGBB. Jerry Lawler
hinted that he would be playing himself.
~~ I have gotten word that the Ultimate Warrior has
signed with WCW. I'm not
sure if this is 100% true but it comes from one of my
most reliable sources.
The deal that he signed is much like Piper's in that he
will appear on a few
PPV's and a couple of Nitro's here and there. We
should see him sometime mid-
summer.
~~ The WCW Hotline is reporting that Bill Goldberg will
be getting his own T-
Shirt that says "Who's next?". A Thunder T-Shirt will
also be coming out soon
It is much like Nitro's merchendise and the Thunder
merchendise will be called
"Thunderwear"
~~ This past Friday, the mayor of Indianapolis declared
April 3 "Bobby Heenan
Day"
~~ There is talk of Piper changing his ways now that
WCW is going to have to
make a lot of storyline changes. Savage was scheduled
to win the belt at
Spring Stampede causing the NWO to break up into
seperate groups. Now there
is talk that Roddy Piper may turn NWO.
~~ A couple of groups are going to be surfacing in WCW
shortly. In addition
to the NWO and Raven's Flock, it seems that we will be
seeing the return of
the 4 Horsemen and the debut of the Canadian Calvalry.
The Horsemen are
rumored to comprise of Bill Goldberg, Dean malenko, Lex
Luger, and Ric Flair.
They should be managed by Arn Anderson. The Canadian
Calvalry should comprise
of Chris Benoit, Jim Neidhart, the British Bulldog, and
Bret Hart.

~~ For all of you who saw WrestleMania last week, it
was obvious that Shawn
Michaels was in tremendous pain during his match with
Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Michaels had a bad back even before the match started.
After the match,
Michaels was taken to a local hospital and was
diagnosed with a few ruptured
disks in his back. The WWF is hoping that Michaels can
return by Summerslam.
Shawn will be avoiding surgery and is going to try and
heal his back with
therapy and rest.
~~ The early numbers for the WrestleMania buyrate was
at a 1.8 but the latest
number to be thrown around is a 2.3
~~ Word is that the Nassau Coliseum RAW Taping on April
14 is going to be
huge. There are a lot of surprises planned. I'll try
to have some of them in
for next week.
~~ The WWF is looking to sign some more Japanese stars
in the future. This
past Monday on RAW, we saw 3 new Japanese
Lightheavyweight stars. They will be
known as Klub Kamikaze in the WWF.
~~ Mike Tyson will definitely be involved with the WWF
in the future. There
is talk of having Tyson have a special role in this
year's Summerslam which
will originate from Madison Square Garden.
~~ The DX ads say that the members of DX are: Shawn
Michaels, HHH, Chyna, X-
Pac, and the New Age Outlaws. Word is that Shawn
michaels will wrestle HHH at
next year's Wrestlemania.
~~ Earl Hebner is recovering from a brain aneurysm and
is expected to return
to work in a couple of months.
~~ Vader should be back around the time of the
Unforgiven In Your House PPV.
~~ The WWF has signed two Canadian superstars. They
are Sexton Hardcastle and
Christian Cage. They wrestled in Canada as a tag team
and they will be
wrestling singles matches in the WWF.
~~ Val Venis is set to feud with Goldust when he debuts
in the WWF. Venis'
gimmick is that of a porn star. He will debut after
the IYH. He is known in
other parts of the world as Sean Morely or Steele.
~~ There is talk of turning Cactus Jack heel and having
him feud with Terry
Funk. The WWF has a few hardcore matches in mind and
who better than these
two hardcore greats to put those matches on.
~~ Steven Regal has signed with the WWF. Regal will
make his debut sometime
in May and will be known as Steven Regal since he
trademarked that name
himself. Rumor has it that he will be managed by Bill
Dundee.
~~ Some UFC stars are looking to follow in the
footsteps of Dan Severn and Ken
Shamrock and are looking to sign with the WWF.
~~ The WWF will be releasing a new Sable T-shirt in the
near future. The
front of the shirt is from the recent swimsuit edition
of the RAW
Magazine. [Credit- Conrad Thompson/Sharpshooter]
~~ Sean Waltman is going to be trying to recruit Rey
Mysterio Jr. to come to
the WWF once Mysterio's contract is up in June. It is
no secret that Mysterio
and Nash are good friends behind the scenes and Waltman
will be trying to get
Mysterio to consider the WWF's offer and take it.
~~ The WWF is trying to put an offer on the table to
get Abdullah the Butcher.
They want Abdullah to come in to help their new
hardcore image that they are
trying to get
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXTREME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~ Last night at a house show in Buffalo, NY, Rob Van
Dam won the TV Title
from Bam Bam Bigelow. Full results are in the Other
News and Notes Section.
~~ ECW is trying to get the SHeepherders to be at the
May 3 PPV. You might
know the Sheepherders better by the name of the
Bushwhackers. The last I
heard of them, they were wrestling in Puerto Rico.
~~ ECW officials are going to make fans attending
Wrestlepalooza and sitting
in the first five rows sign a special release form.
The release form is
needed so that ECW cannot be blamed if somebody in the
first five rows gets
injured.

Bigelow had the

him out. Sabu then

Wrestling From My Easy Chair by The Grand Poobah
<A HREF="mailto: poobah78@aol.com">Poobah78@aol.com</A>
Wrestlemania has always been the culmination of the
wrestling year at the WWF.
It is the one PPV or big event where matches end
decisively, and angles are
either tied up or started. Old guys leave, and new guys
come in.
For two nights, the WWF shined. You can't tell me that
with all the WWF has to
offer (which isn't as deep as WCW), that the WWF didn't
kick major booty. And
considering that the newest angle WCW has to offer is
Major Booty (aka
Beefcake), the WWF outdid themselves. We got:
A) DX getting screwed by Tyson.
B) A new champion (give me a hell-yeah!)
C) Twice the dumpsters.
D) The LOD 2000 AND
E) Sable showing that she does have an upper body (And
no one arrested her for
doing a power bomb!) Hey, wait a minute....you don't
think that was a swipe at
WCW, letting Sable (forgive me...a girl) do a power
bomb to mock that WCW
angle, do you????? (NUDGE-NUDGE, WINK-WINK).
And if that wasn't enough, on Monday we got:
F) Sean Waltman (Six-punk).
G) Dan Severn and
H) Vince McMahon, for the first time, really getting
over as a heel.....and
getting clocked with a stunner.
By the way, someone on the ProNews staff wondered aloud
last week...."If they
keep the name 6, they need 2 new members...like the
NAO. Gee who (grand
poobah) could have (grand poobah) said THAT? Me, of
course! Personally, I
think that the New Look, LOD-2000 should have been the
ones....it would have
brought them back to what they were in the AWA in the
80's, they could have
feuded with both Jack/Funk and the NAO. Now we'll get
them feuding with the
(gol-lee) Godwins. Oh Vince, you were thisclose to
getting it perfect!
I also love the new WWF attitude commercial. They had
to can the old one,
since they dumped Ahmed Johnson. In it, the old guys
reflect on the new guys.
Gorilla looks pretty bad, though. It is very nostalgic.
One criticism, though:
they should identify the speakers. Many kids don't know
all of the
individuals.
Finally, its trivia time. Congrats to Alf316 who was
the first to say that the
1-2-3 Kid's 2 tag partners who won the belt with him
were Marty Jannety and
Bob Holly. Special note goes to Bigdogjr who identified
the matches and dates,
and Drigieboo who pointed out to me that he held the
belt for a combined 8
days.
This weeks question: 20/20 once did a feature on
wrestling. A reporter asked a
wrestler if the sport was fake. he got slapped in the
ears for it. Who was the
reporter, and who was the wrestler?
Thanks to all....see you next week.

MY TESTIMONY by FaceDiCulo
<A HREF="">FaceDiCulo@aol.com</A>
Well well well, what a last few days for the WWF. With
Wrestlemania 14, and
the following nights RAW, we witnessed some of the best
WWF action of the last
few years...
First and foremost...We Have A New Champion...yawn.
After more than a year of
Obsceneties, Profanities, Stunners and flat out bad
attitude, Steve Austin
finally was rewarded with the WWF title. In my opinion
the Toughest SOB has
become the most tiresome and annoying SOB in the WWF.
His push carried on too
long, and I've seen enough of hi stunning everyone from
Jobbers to Slaughter
to the HBK to McMahon. Enough is enough! All this crap
with him being arrested
and whatnot, what a waste of time. Now on Monday's Raw
there is something
about McMahon forcing Austin to change his image, which
of course Austin
doesn't do. But he does stun a few people, give a few
fingers and is on his
way. Vince, I think its about time you gave Austin a
screwjob, and that we
have a new champion (anyone but Owen or the Undertaker)
sooner than later.
Speaking of "screwjobs" A get well soon to Earl
Hebner...anyone who screw's
Bret Hart (even if it was in the context of a script)
is a friend of mine.
As for Mike Tyson...he held up pretty well his
appearance, I was a little
upset that he didn't have more involvent in the match.
Nothing but multiple
crotch chops, I believe he threw Austin in the ring
once, making a count i
didn't know he had the authority to make, and Striking
the HBK. It wasn't the
biggest part, but it was well played. With Tyson's
microscopic brain, if you
tried to give him a more difficuly part, he would be
liable to screw things
up...he's not a smart man.
DX...first off hopefully Michaels' injury will heal
quickly, and I hope he
stays in DX.
Im relieved that they didn't have HHH lose to Owen,
because Owen deserves
nothing. It's good to see Waltman, or X-Pac or whatever
the hell they're
calling him now. And the New Age Outlaws regained the
tag belts and joined DX.
Well, werent Mr. Dog and Mr. Ass kinda "unofficial"
Members for the last few
months...they along with DX did join in the beatings of
both LOD, Owen and
Austin...it was inevitable that they'd become
degenerates.
Another Quick point on the NAO...In an article I wrote
last week, I spoke
about Vince's affection with tag teams consisting of
Gunn's and Jobbers. My
statement has become a reality...WWF Tag Champs: Billy
and the Road Dog, NWA
Champs: Bart and Bob Holly.
In another one of those too-long, played out angles,
the Undertaker is
scheduled to fight Kane again in an "Inferno Match"
Something involving
hellfire and brimstone. Taker won the last battle, but
memo to Kane: It was
not cool the way you nearly killed Pete Rose, It will
be cool if you nearly
Kill your Brother.
I was surprised by how exciting the Mixed-Tag match
was. It's great to see
Mero flying high once again...but Sable, powerbomb,
TKO, Mero you could get
some lessons from that girl.
Ken Shamrock had to screw himself...again. All I can
really say, is that he's
starting to remind me of Lex Luger when he became a
good guy "Real American"
"Lex Express" and whatnot. He was always in the big
feud or main event, but
when it came to holding a title he always screwed
himself.
Lastly on the WWF, about Jeff Jarrett. I wish he could
have been presented
better at WM, he truly is a great wrestler. All we saw
was him with that
Gennifer Flowers lady. Was he in the Battle Royal (As
soon as they showed LOD
coming out with Sunny it was like...no duh they're
gonna win)? He could have
faced Farooq, or even Steve Blackman or Flash Funk (uh
then again maybe not)
Maybe if they could have brought in Severn to face
Jarrett that would have
been good. Oh Well.
One more thing, about Ratings...I believe a few of you
have brought this up
before, but the WWF really should consider it. The
reason why they don't beat
Nitro in ratings, is because most of the time, they are
Taped. Why would I
bother to watch if i could come here, get the results,
and occupy my time with
something else. I mean, Nitro's aren't even
entertaining, if RAW was Live more
often, ratings would soar past Nitro.
All in all, a good week for the WWF, as for WCW, it
continues to make me wanna
puke. Why bother ordering a PPV, because every match,
or a altercation you
wanna see is bound to be shown on a Nitro or a Thunder.
Usual Sting-Luger
Hall-Savage crap..Hogan w/Beefcake prematurely
fighting Piper hell, at least
it cost me nothing. Of all the crud at WCW, the only
thing missing at
Nitro...Sting did not descend from the
rafters...Schiavone did not scream like
a 3 year old "Yes! Its Sting! Its Sting! Take that
Hogan! Take that NWO!" My
god, he's even worse than Good 'ol JR. I miss Vince in
the booth, JR makes a
good analyst, but he doesn't make a good lead guy, he
whines too much.
Two last WCW tidbits before I go...it appears they're
giving Goldberg a new
punching bag...for the Next 6 weeks I thing Goldberg
will be fighting Saturn
almost every night...of course Im exaggerating, but you
get the picture.
Finally, I want to see more interviews of Bret Hart.
Sure, he is probably my
least favorite wrestler of all time. But his interviews
are so stupid, its
funny. Famous quote's like "When I go up AGAYNST you,
in THE Summerslam", and
"That Stinking Hyena" and "My Mother is from Nassau
Colisseum" Little stupid
quotes like that is what makes Bret Hart the guy I love
to hate.
That will do it for this edition of My Testimony, let
me know what ya
think...You're either with me, or against me...That'll
do it, I am outta
here....
