A proposal for a new newsgroup: ba.history

This is not meant to sarcasm. There's a heck of a lot
of history floating around in BA newsgroups. The BA
is an everchanging myrid of twisty little passages, all
alike. A heck of a lot of poeple could contribute
in an effort towards a unique history, a newsgroup
possibly.

We've seen cherry and almond orchards turn into condos, bridges
blown up, artichokes turned to weed, and power plants that warm
our waters. Psychadelic mushrooms are getting sparse,
and the Berkeley phenonomon is oh-so everchaning. High-Tech,
companies build, then flutter. Earthquakes crumble. Highways
[re]built from one-lane roads, and politicians that can't think
beyond their lifespan.

Were forgetting to write history as its perceived.

--Not sure if the Society of California Pioneers has a website or
not. but they do a lot of this already. It's being done, but nobody seems
to notice.

Write me a real charter and i'll think about it.

"I'm sorry" are two of the worst words you can use. They describe yourself
and not your circumstance. If I had my way, I'd abolish these two words from
ever being used again. "I'm sorry" is a state of being. If you say it enough,
eventually you'll become it. - Rodney Chen <rchen@best.com>

--Um, another thing you might do is a keyword search on "Clamper"
and "ECV". Amongst other things they value (ha-ha) one of the things is an
abiding interest in the history of the old west, BA included. There are a
couple of Clamper homepages on the net; lotsa fun, too... :-)

aka E Clampus Vitus. You might occasionally see a white oval sticker,
similar to european country stickers, with "ECV" in sort of old
fashion black letters instead of the more typical "DE" in bold san
serif.

Most people don't seem to like to formalize history, it just sounds better
with a few beers. I tried to subscribe to
alt.history.californian-controversy , but nobody posts to it... Then, most
folks version of history fits better into the category of urban myths...
