I think the original poster's experience is typical. Until a friend hand 
carried my resume to his managers I rec'd the typical 'in review' card for 
almost two years. Now, after the hand carried resume, the red carpet was 
rolled out, etc, etc. I wonder how many resumes REALLY get to the hiring 
managers in their relevant departments.
