                               Hello,

The following will be of interest to those of you who, for whatever
reasons, need or want legal resident status in the USA.

In 1992 and 1993, like it did in 1991, the U.S State Department will hold a
lottery to give away 40,000 "Green Cards": this is called the Transitional
Diversity Program; applications will have to be mailed or dropped at a
particular location, still to be officially defined: last year it was the
US post office in Merryfield, Virginia.
Applications have to be filed within a 5 days time-frame window, also to be
announced later; any applications filed before midnight on the first day of
the filing period, or after midnight on the fifth day, will be disqualified;
last year, 39% of the total applications filed were rejected because of early
filing, another 10.5% were rejected because of late filing.

Others important filing conditions have been modified for this and next
year's draws and among other changes, in 1992 and 1993 Canadians are now
eligible; other eligible nationalities are as follows:
Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Denmark,
Estonia, Germany, Finland, France, Gibraltar, England, Hungary, Iceland,
Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania,
Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands (Holland), New-Caledonia, Norway, Poland, San
Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia.
