of an unmoderated Belgian Usenet newsgroup:

be.support.chronic-pain

This newsgroup is to contain messages concerning chronic pain, 
as known in Belgium and abroad.

Reproducing this RFD or parts of it is bound by limitations. 
These limitations apply for 10 days starting the day of the 
RFD's publication (the RFD-period).

It is permitted to refer to the RFD, to indicate where it is 
available. These references should be neutral. The RFD will be

Chronic pain makes a lot of people's lives difficult, 
especially the lives of those with chronic pain. It would be a 
step forward if this subject matter could be openly discussed 
in a newsgroup especially created for this purpose.

The description and charter for this newsgroup:

This group is open to *all* aspects of chronic pain. Not just 
the pain and medication can be discussed, but also the social 
consequences. The problems of having to live with chronic pain 
and many other subjects can be brought up. This group is non-

et surtout la vie de ceux qui en souffrent. Si seulement on 
pouvait parler de la douleur chronique dans un groupe etabli 
pour ce but, ce serait fort favorable.

- discussion of conditions/diseases involving chronic pain

  (serious messages about acute pain are permitted, as
  there is no alternative at this time for the discussion
  of pain in general - more below)

  mobility, jobs, etc. ...)

- treatments (NON commercial) [TENS, etc. ...]
- alternative medication/treatments (NON commercial), such
  as acupuncture
- disability (problems, etc. ...)

It is very useful to briefly indicate in the subject header 
what aspect you will be discussing. I'm thinking along the 
lines of: [MED] - [SOC] - [TREAT] etc. ... and you may even 
want to do this in a more specific way, but this is not 
necessary.

(!!!) Do use this tag: [ACUTE], should you be wanting to
      discuss acute pain. This is a temporary measure, to
      include discussions on this type of pain, to keep
      them restricted to this group, because at the moment
      there is no alternative for these messages.

Deze groep staat open voor *alle* aspecten aangaande chronische 
pijn. Deze groep is niet beperkend.

- bespreken van aandoeningen met chronische pijn
  (chronische pijn kan maar 1 van de aspecten zijn)
- verschillende soorten chronische pijn (!!!)
  (serieuze berichten i.v.m. acute pijn zijn toegelaten
  aangezien er momenteel geen alternatief is voor het
  bespreken van pijn in het algemeen - meer hieronder)
- sociale aspecten & gevolgen (algemene moeilijkheden,
  mobiliteit, werk, enz. ...)
- medicatie (NIET commercieel)
- behandelingen (NIET commercieel) [TENS, enz. ...]
- alternatieve medicatie/behandelingen (NIET commercieel)
  zoals bijvoorbeeld acupunctuur
- invaliditeit (problemen, enz. ...)
- ...

Het is zeer handig indien je kort in het onderwerp aangeeft 
over welk aspect het gaat. Ik denk aan: [MED] - [SOC] - [BEH] 
enz. ... en dit mag zelfs specifieker, maar dit is absoluut 
geen verplichting.

(!!!) Pas dit wel toe als je het over acute pijn wil
      hebben => [ACUUT]. Dit is een noodoplossing, om
      discussies over pijn van korte duur in 1 groep
      te houden aangezien momenteel er hiervoor geen
      alternatief is.

(!!!) Enkel tot er een voor acute pijn specifieke groep
      wordt opgericht.

- discuter les maladies de douleur chronique
  (la douleur chronique peut-�tre qu'un des aspects)
- diff�rents types de douleurs chronique (!!!)
  (des messages s�rieux concernant la douleur � dur�e
  courte ne sont pas interdits, car en ce moment il
  n'y a pas d'alternatif pour discuter de la douleur
  en g�n�ral - plus en-dessous)
- aspects sociaux (difficult�s, mobilit�, employ, etc. ...)

- traitements (NON commerciaux) [TENS, etc. ...]

Il est tr�s utile de d�noter dans le sujet de quoi traite votre 
message. Je pense �: [MED] - [SOC] - [TRAIT] etc. ... et vous 
pouvez m�me utiliser des indications plus sp�cifiques, mais ce 
n'est vraiment pas obligatoire.

(!!!) Il est cependant obligatoire d'utiliser [NON-DC] si
      vous voulez discuter la douleur non-chronique. Ceci
      est fait pour incluir les discussions g�n�rales
      traitant de la douleur non-chronique, pour les
      restricter � un groupe. En ce moment il n'y pas
      d'alternatif.

(!!!) Jusqu'a ce qu'il existe un groupe pour la douleur
      non-chronique.

This group certainly is not the right place to post messages 
that ridicule chronic pain sufferers, neither is it the right 
place to post messages that minimize the serious problems 
chronic pain sufferers have to deal with.

Also, this group is not open to immature messages, such as:

      "My condition is worse than your condition."
      "My serious problems are much worse than your tiny
       problems."
      "I have tried (this treatment/this type of medication)
       and if you don't try this it means you certainly do
       not want to improve."
      ...

We are no longer dealing with good quality discussion here.

Because of the nature of this group, it should be possible to 
exchange experiences, to openly discuss problems in a humane, 
understanding atmosphere. For some people it is so easy to make 
fun of groups such as this. These things will not be tolerated.

MISPLAATST

Deze groep is zeker niet de juiste plaats voor het posten van 
berichten die chronische pijnlijders belachelijk maken of voor 
het posten van berichten die hun zware problemen minimaliseren.

Eveneens is er geen plaats voor onvolwassen berichten, in de 
zin van:

      "Mijn aandoening is erger dan jouw aandoening."
      "Mijn serieuze problemen zijn veel erger dan jouw
       kleine problemen."
      "Ik heb (deze behandeling/dit medicijn) geprobeerd
       en als je dit niet probeert dan wil je zeker niet
       verbeteren."
      ...

Het gaat hier dan zeker niet meer om goede, kwaliteitsvolle 
discussie.

Gezien het moeilijke onderwerp, moet het in deze groep vooral 
gaan om het kunnen uitwisselen van ervaringen, om het openlijk 
kunnen bespreken van problemen op een menswaardige, begripvolle 
manier. Voor sommige mensen is het echt makkelijk groepen zoals 
deze belachelijk te maken. Zulke dingen kunnen niet aanvaard 
worden.

	"Moi j'ai essay� (ce traitment/ce m�dicament) en
       si tu ne l'essaye pas, tu ne veux certainement

Ces pens�es ne font certainment plus parti d'une bonne 
discussion, d'une discussion qualitativement bien.

Vu le sujet difficile, certainement, dans ce groupe on doit 
pouvoir discuter de fa�on ouverte, on doit pouvoir parler de 
nos exp�riences d'une mani�re humaine, avec compr�hension. Pour 
certains gens, il est tr�s facile de ridiculiser des groupes 
commes ceci. Des choses comme �a ne peuvent �tre tol�r�es.
