74th Annual Meeting of the Southwestern and Rocky Mountain section
of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)

At MESA STATE COLLEGE, Grand Junction, CO; 17-21 May, 1998

The theme for the biological papers at this meeting is:
"Applied ecology: Local and global issues for the 21st century."

SYMPOSIA INCLUDE:

*Applied and basic ecological research in tropical ecosystems.

*Biological and mechanical control: Putting theory into practice.

*The new checkerboard: Managing agricultural, urban, and public lands.

*Ecological answers for hazardous waste disposal.

*Conservation biology: From endangered species to endagered ecosystems.

*Biology and ecology of vector-borne diseases of the Southwest.


In addition to these symposia, there will be contributed paper sessions,
poster sessions, and plenary lectures. Other symposia in the areas
of natural science and mathematics will run concurrently. Undergraduates
and graduate students are strongly encouraged to participate.
