INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TRAINING PROGRAMS

Oregon State University has responded to the acknowledged needs of
individuals involved in international business for more sophisticated
marketing and financing training. The importance of a well thought
out business plan is essential for getting financing and is the
most crucial element in successful marketing.

Each program is a collaborative effort between the College of
Business, Office of International Research and Development,
faculty from the Colleges of Agriculture, Forestry and Economics,
and practitioners of international trade. These programs provide
resource materials and establish networking relationships and
contacts for long-term success. The guiding philosophy is
"learning by doing".

Our goal is to extend the use of technology in learning and practice.
Programs are conducted using advanced electronic classrooms,
computer applications with a wide selection of software, and
training in the evolving use of market research tools such as
DIALOG, Data-Star, Dow Jones, Lexis/Nexis, Tradstat, Global Scan and
other databank services. Seminars include: Communicating with the
world using networks, international trade resources, online
databases, business applications of the Internet and techniques
for searching across systems and files.

These programs are designed to provide a specific product, a usable
business plan. They are arranged with a wide range of participants
in mind, from executive training to small business start-up, from
service businesses to specific products of seafood, forest resources,
and agriculture. Quality considerations and high value added products
are emphasized. The following is a short description of the programs
offered.
