POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Academy for Educational Development (AED) is currently
recruiting a testing and measurement specialist for a long-
term two-year position as team leader on a primary education
project in Bangladesh starting early in 1999. (The two years
can be extended to 3-4 years, if desired). The specialist
should be experienced in criterion referenced testing and
will develop tests in math, language studies and/or social
studies for an existing curriculum that is performance-based.
Responsibilities include supervising short-term consultants
assigned to strengthen the National Curriculum and Textbook
Board which has recently taken on the responsibility for
developing a national testing system for the new competency-
based curriculum. The specialist will also advise the Board
on policy planning and the establishment of systems and
procedures. Previous overseas development experience is

The Academy for Educational Development is also recruiting
education testing and assessment specialists and measurement
and evaluation specialists for short term assignments which
occur periodically in developing countries. Assignments range
from a few weeks to several months. AED has education reform
projects in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, South-East
