Hi,

     I am involved with a project to produce an interactive MM CD-ROM that will
be included in our yearbook, The Howitzer.  West Point is eager to be the first
school to do this with all work done by students.
     We want to include lots of still pictures and narration, a few videos and
maybe an animation or two--basically an enhanced ADDITION to the printed
version.
     I have been reading the aware list to get an idea how useful AP could be.
Other software I have been looking at includes: Icon Author, Toolbook, and
Visual Basic.  This summer's release of Director /win has a shot too.
We feel that a Windows application 640X480X256 running mostly
off the disc would best suit our needs, but are open to suggestions.
     The authoring system has yet to be purchased (it will be used all year
long for a yearly product), so we are flexible with the authoring platform.
Initially, it seems it would minimize hassle and cost to author off of a
windows machine, but if you have other experiences, please let me know about
them.
     A final question, what kind of system should we design for for a release
in 18 months?  486DX2 66, 8 meg, 2X spin?
     Thanks for any help!  We are doing this non-profit (except I might get
some credit-hours out of it!) and are possibly looking for sponsors to defray
costs--approx dist 1500 + maybe some media coverage.
