I've just recently been figuring this out for myself. This is what I have
figured out. If you're authoring on the Mac then save the files as either 24 or
16 bit PICT images, depending on whether or not storage space for pictures is a
consideration. Then, under the FILE menu select IMPORT GRAPHICS. Now,
depending on whether you are developing for crossplatform or not will determine
your next choice. If you've been keeping track of the AWARE list for very long
you know that APW and JPEG compression don't mix as of yet. So, I suggest that
you don't select any options if you're developing for cross-platform. If
developing for APM only then I have found that the QUICKTIME JPEG compression
gives some nice disk saving options without much loss in picture clarity. For
cross-platform development you cannot PASTE AS PICT; APW does not support this.

If you find out something better for importing pictures for cross-platform
development, please let me know; I'm always open for new and better ideas.

Good luck!
John
