After consulting with a lawyer that handles several affairs with me for the vari ous computer users groups I am involved with I can make this statement with some modicum of knowledge. The distribution of ANY copyrighted material by anyone other than the original author or if the author has sold his rights to an other paryty then the owner of the copyrights, is expressly illegal. No amount of disclaimers, no matter how they are worded can change the fact that the owner of the copyright is the only one that can distribute or give permission to distribute a copyrighted work. All software falls into this category. If there is an FTP site that has an emulator that has included a copy of the software found on the ROMs of a computer and the software is copyrighted the owner/s of that FTP site may be liable to suit as well as the person that posted the original files. I am not talking about theory here, I am talking about the laws of this country and this is a legal interpretation from an accreditted lawyer. Please do not use the net to request illegal acts be performed. Trying to justify an illegal act because somebody else has done it doesn't make it any more legal and it doesn't put you or anybody else in a more tenous position. -Carl
