Nov. 13 - 16, 1997
Berlin, Germany
Organized by

I N V I T A T I O N
The European unification is discussed with increasing intensity. The
discussion
is mainly determined by political-economic interests and characterized
by media
reportings.
Until now, the citizen and his interests, as essential parts of the
unification
process, barely appear in these discussions., a fact that is due to
discussions
lead almost exclusively at highest political levels which the average
citizen
rarely has access to. Furthermore, very rare occasions are offered to
citizens
to express themselves in the media. There is a lack of
non-discriminatory access
to electronic media for every one.
The congress =1AOpen Channels for Europe!" aims at drawing the attention
to the
current situation and to underlign the importance of citizen`s media for
the
European unification process, as well as for the development and
protection of a
democratic society.
Our intention is to bring together participants coming from different
European
and non-European countries who are interested in citizen`s media. This
congress
is intended to mark the beginning of a series of similar events in
alterning
countries. By the means of an intensive exchange of information and
views and
the acceptance of the =1ABerlin Declaration" we will lay the foundation
for and
promote our common matter of concern: Open Channels for Europe!
The Program.
