My name is Maryke de Zwager and I am a student of International Development and Anthropoplogy at the University of Toronto. Last year I worked with the popular reporters of two radio stations in Bolivia, Radio ACLO (in Quechua) and Radio Tarija (in Spanish). I am now writing my undergraduate thesis on the theoretical and real roles of popular reporters, in an attempt to develop a set of criteria for radio stations, NGOs and communities working with popular reporters. I am interested in learning about other experiences with popular reporters/communicators in Latin America and worldwide, and more generally, the benefits of popular/participatory radio for development. So, if anyone knows of good resources (be they papers, books, people or organizations) about this topic, send me an email : 94dezwag@scar.utoronto.ca Thanks! Maryke
