Regarding the note from Stuart E. Strand, I agree that one problem with EndNote is the fact that when databases are combined, the record numbers change. This makes it difficult for two authors to collaborate on a single article if they have separate databases. It would be nice if EndNote had a way to assign unique codewords or numbers to each unique paper. Then, whether the article is in my database or yours, it will have the same number. ISBN, ISSN, volume numbers, page numbers could combine to form unique identifiers. There may be a kludge way to do this, but why not make this an option in EndNote, so it would be automatic?
