I'm posting this to Help-net & Nettrain due to expressed interest
with apologies for cross-posting.

Well group, the subject says it all. The Church of Latter Day Saints has
no plans to make their existing database accessible via either the
Internet or via dial-up, according to the main office.

I called the Names Project office in Salt Lake City. Phone is (801)
240-2331. They have a CD-ROM database which is available at their "Family
History Centers"; now mind you I didn't ask if it's available at ALL their
Family History Centers. But I did ask if it was available to the general
public and they said "yes." You can find the nearest CD-ROM by calling the
number above.

Incidentally, I don't think they even knew what the Internet was.
