Gerald, I think you missed Kathy Gill's point entirely when she said: > >personally, I would be more likely to discriminate against 'free sites" like > >GeoCities than ~ sites from Universities. And you replied: > This is the most ridiculous statement I have seen. My site is contains > more up to date information on How to do Just about Everything by E-mail > than any .edu. .com,. or even .gov site. Her comment wasn't about your site, it was about GeoCities sites in general compared to personal pages located on university servers. The idea of ruling out sites that contain a tilde is a far more ridiculous thought than ruling out the crap that many (not yours) GeoCities sites contain. So here's a solution: let's not rule out either because the reality is that the gold anyone is looking for when searching can possibly be found on any flavor of site at all. Boil it down further: there's no easy way to do this. No magic search criteria. There are so many variables and all of them determined by the first variable: the thing you're looking for. Eliminating any source because of the type of server it's on is a bad idea. -- A u t h o r & J o u r n a l i s t <http://www.smartypants.net> Editor, January Magazine <http://www.januarymagazine.com>
