You all make valid points. However, something to consider is that for many of us our proxy servers block sites such as Geocities for the specific reason that they offer no control of content. As a school teacher, I'm concerned that there needs to be control over where students can go on the net. At the same time, I realize that many sites on geocities are of great value. I've found that if I find a site that I like, explore it, and find it to be useful to my students, I can then notify the proxy to allow access to it.
