My school district is remodeling our old labs (hooray). However, the new
lab, proposed for a new location, will have no windows (BOO!). I foresee
two serious problems with this. First of all, from the safety perspective,
while I don't have the ventilation problems associated with a chem lab
(which is getting 4 vent hoods), I find that I must frequently open the
windows in my present, reasonably-well ventilated lab. Could anyone cite
any OSHA regs or anything that might help me convince them that the one
possible area for a window should be opened up? Secondly (since I doubt
that such evidence exists), is the problem with SADD- I anticipate the
feeling of walking into a mausoleum every day. I have read about light
therapy for this condition, and wonder if, for instance, I could get some
evidence for plant-growth flourescent lights instead of the standard
cool-white type. Could anyone point me in the direction of some convincing
evidence for either of these? Thanks, <<Joe>>
